What is the technology (CMOS or Bipolar) of the TLV3501AQDBVRQ1?

If it is CMOS based, would you get an equivalent device in a bipolar technology with a similar package?

Hello Jerome,

The TLV3501 is based on a Bi-CMOS process, that has both bipolar and CMOS devices.

The TLV3501 is mostly CMOS, but does have some bipolar devices scattered about.

This is pretty typical for these devices. Similar devices will also have a mix.

Does it need to be purely bipolar? Is this a space or hi-rel application?

A similar device is the LMV7219, which is mostly bipolar, but also has some CMOS devices.

To get to "pure" bipolar devices, then you would need to go to the older LM111 or LM119 devices

Hello Paul,

Thanks a lot for your answer and your Insightfulness. You are right this is for space application.

The LMV7219 is of course not the best candidate. I thus reconsidered the circuit needs which could enlarge the candidates. I need a comparator with:

- open collector or push pull output stage

- bipolar technology

- with a power supply capability from 3V to 5V minimum range

- temperature range from -40 to 125°C

- ideally in an automotive quality range

I found the TLV1701 which should be compatible with my needs, but do you get other ones?

The only space-rated 3-V comparators are the TLV1704-SEP and LM139-SP.

A plain TLV170x is neither constructed nor tested for radiation tolerance. Do you want to risk it anyway?

Hello Jerome,

If you need "pure" bipolar, then you are stuck with the older LM111/119/193/139 devices.These devices also have "space" grades.

Most anything that has come out within the last few years is going to be in a BiCMOS processes and may have both CMOS and bipolar devices.

The TLV1701 / 2 /4 is on a bipolar process and contains BJT's and JFETS. That may be your best bet to meet your requirements.

Yes; the LM2903B is a modernization of the old LM2903, but it is still purely bipolar.
