OPAMPEVM-SOT23: Is it suitable for TL331BIDBVR

Part Number: OPAMPEVM-SOT23
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL331

Hi Team,

My customer would like to try our OPA TL331BIDBVR, I see it’s SOT23-5 package and our EVM also have SOT23-5, but I am not sure why have SOT23-5A and SOT23-5B, may I know what’s different between SOT23-5A and SOT23-5B?
Also, may I know the detail size of U301 and U401 in OPAMPEVM-SOT23-5(Ex: each pin’s length and width) or have layout can share?

My purpose is to make sure is TL331BIDBVR can solder on SOT23-5A or SOT23-5B to test performance.

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Roy

  • Hi Roy,

Just to make sure, the TL331 is a comparator, not an operational amplifier. Per the "Universal Operational Amplifier EVM" document section 2.4 and 2.5, the land patterns for both the SOT23-5A and SOT23-5B boards should be the same; the only difference should be the pinouts and their connections on the EVM:

In this case, the SOT23-5A EVM should align with the pinout of the TL331. Note that the IN- and IN+ are switched.

As for the size of U301 and U401, I don't have the PCB file for this EVM. I'd assume that it is the same as any SOT23-5 land pattern on the Altium database.

I went ahead and opened the footprint for the TL331BIDBVR footprint in the vault and made the following measurements:
