AMC3330: +/-20mA current sensing

Part Number: AMC3330
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS127L18, AMC131M01, AMC131M03, OPA2388, ADS127L21

Tool/software:

Hi TI Team

Is it possible to use the AMC3330 in combination with the ADS127L18 getting a final accuracy of +/-16bit (17bit)? Is it correct that I have to add a Differential to Single-Ended Output Conversion if I use this ADC with just a +5V supply?

Thank you in advance.

Regards Theo

  • Hi Theo,

Can you provide some details about your system and use case?  You could just use an AMC131M01 or AMC131M03, which are isolated ADC's with a SPI interface.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Saleh

I figured it out by myself. There is an Excel Sheet provided by TI to calculate the accuracy. And it seems impossible to get it to 0.01% over a temperature of 0-60°C without sensing the temperature itself which we want to avoid. The other two devices you mentioned are interesting but they seem to end up with the same issue. We have a design with an isolated  ADS127L21 + OPA2388 which should theoretically be capable of delivering the 0.01% over temperature.

    Thanks for your help.
