OPA2994: The best op-amp option to drive capacity load

Part Number: OPA2994
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA994

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Just want to make sure, if the customer want to need op-amp to drive capacity load, is OPA2994 the best option? Their requirement is as below:

supply voltage: +/-4.5V

Input range: +/- 2.5V

Gain: +/- 1

Load Capacitor: 0-5uF

Drive Current: 0.1mA-5mA

  • Hi Hale,

It sounds like the capacitive load is able to be quite dynamic. The customer will notice some changes in the devices overall phase margin across these different capacitive loads as seen from Phase Margin vs Capacitive Load.

I'm not seeing any potential problems with using the OPA994. However I'd like to know:

    - have they not decided whether to use a gain of 1 or a gain of -1?

    - What is the frequency of the input signal.

    Best Regards,

  • Robert,

Want to make sure 1 question first, is OPA994 the best option to drive capacity load, 1uF~5uF?

  • Robert,

The frequency is 200k. And there are 2 ch, one ch gain is +1,the other one is -1. Do we have better performance devices, like higher bandwidth which can also support capacity load?

  • Hi Hale,

Based on the system requirements, the OPA2994 would be the best fit in this system.
