In the schematic shown in Figure A-1, why is D3 a bipolar device ? With D2 in circuit, a unipolar SMBJ40C should do the job!
Any specific reason I don't know about?

Hello Jayant,
D2 is only intended to protect against reverse wiring of the loop supply. It isn't able to respond quickly enough or dissipate enough power to protect against ESD, EFT, and surge which could come from either direction. D3, however, is up to the task!

know anyone I can contract to build this circuit on a breadboard or prototype pcb?

Hi Jody,
Like all of our TI Precision Designs, the board for TIPD126 is not an EVM and not intended to be orderable. It is simply a design-by-example.
That being said, if there's an opportunity to win sockets with a customer and this board will help achieve that, I can provide you with one. Unfortunately I don't have any left so there would be a delay while the boards are fabbed and assembled.

Hi Ian,
No worries. This is just a project I'm working on for Rfab. Trying to read some temp sensors without
the cost and complexity of modern day transmitters. We are trying to reading them directly to the PLC
on a 2 wire, 4-20mA input. I went ahead and ordered a couple of boards from a prototyping company
and will try to build it myself. Not the end of the world if it doesn't work out. This is the last thing we are
going to try like this. The DAC191S997EVM won't do what I thought it would, so that's been kind of a
dissappointment and a good example of how little I know and understand these development boards,
It's been great fun messing with them though! Thanks for all the help. Will let you know how it goes.

Good Morning Ian,
Still working on the temperature project. Was wondering if any of the TIPD126 Boards have become available?
If not, can you tell me where we are buying them? I found a board from Analog Devices that is doing a great job,
but managers want to try and use TI stuff if possible. It's OK if we can't get these. I more than understand.
