AFE for gas sensing

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMP91000, LMP91050

Hi,

I'm reading about TI AFEs for gas sensors and I have some doubts about.

In particular, I'm looking at gas & NDIR afes.

For LMP91000:

    • Instead of adding an external EEPROM for every AFE, can be the MCU's EEPROM used to store the AFE register values? These values have to be written into AFE once it is switched on; and first, MCU need to read them from EEPROM, so it would be irrelevant where registers are stored, internal MCU or external EEPROM, what does TI suggest?
    • Does TI offer some Design Guidelines to add this component to OEM products? And Reference Design?
    • LMP91000 could work with internal or external voltage reference, which are the main differences of working in a mode or other?
      • For example, if you sourced with a 3V3 supply voltage and used it as a reference, which would be the possible issues of doing that way?
    • At proposed design in datashet, there is an external ADC, which is the main reason to avoid work with the internal MCU ones?
      • Is this reason based on resolution, sensitivity, integrity, or maybe, take advantage of not used the analog inputs?
    1. Does TI have any AFE for galvanic cell sensor?
    2. Is there any Gas Sensor which work as a voltage amplifier instead of transimpedance?

For LMP91050:

    • Which kind of sensor can be used to work with this AFE?
      • It is specially designed for NDIR sensors but there is no proposed one, nor CO2, neither other kind of toxic gases. Could it work with CO2-D1 from Alphasense?
    • Does it need an external EEPROM too? Could it work with internal MCU EEPROM?
    • Does TI offer some Design Guidelines to add this component to OEM products? And Reference Design?
    • Could you explain the function of A0 & A1?
    • As for previous AFE, could it work without external ADC?

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards.
