VCA810: Input , Output range vs gain

Part Number: VCA810
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Hello,

Our customer evaluating VCA810 with input voltage= -1V to +1V and  gain=0dB, however, the output voltage has clamped.

I have heard their operation conditions and settings and  examined it by TINA-TI.

The result had the same as the customer had (see attached file).

I believe VCA810 can be used with 1Vpp and 0dB by checking datasheet Figure11,

please let me know why the output voltage had clamped and could not output 1Vpp .

Thanks and best regards,

Hiro

  • Hello Hiroshi-san,

Sorry for the delay in response.

The input and output voltage range vs Gain is provided in Figure 11 of the datasheet. If I look in that curve for gain = 0dB, the VCA810 output will be limited to 1.4Vpp or -0.7V to +0.7V,  as you notice on the TINA-TI simulation. The condition for input voltage = -1V to +1V is with 2Vpp input and will be beyond the input/output voltage range at which the device can operate.

    Best Regards,

    Rohit

  • Hello Rohit-san,

Thank you for your replying, that is helpful for us.
I'll explain that to the customer.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Hiro
