An excel calculator is provided to help designers solve circuit components around the LMH5401-SP fully differential amplifier (FDA). The calculator is customized to the LMH5401-SP as the formulas take into account the internal 25 ohm feedback resistance integrated on the IC.

Users should enter the values highlighted in yellow which are (1) Target Voltage Gain (2) Source Impedance and (3) Target Feedback Resistance.

The green highlighted values are the calculated values.

When using the calculator, ensure that the voltage gain referenced to the AMPOUT node is used. Please see graphic at cell I2 showing power gain, voltage gain, and reference plane.

Can this spreadsheet be customized, lets say, for the THS4511 differential amplifier?

Yes it can. You would need to modify some formulas so that the internal 25 ohms in the feedback path of the LMH5401-SP is changed to 0ohms as is the case for the THS4511-SP. So Rf would equal Rf* for THS4511-SP.
