LM7321: LM7321 for VCOM application -- need higher output current

Part Number: LM7321
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BUF22821

Hi all,

My customer test LM7321 for their 12" TFT Vcom buffer application but think it's current not enough (compare with BUF22821's VCOM, cause noise on output video) for 6V Vcom application (VDD: 15V). Is there any other suggestion to replace LM7321 (need around 100mA)? Or can customer use 2 LM7321 to drive their VCOM? Thanks for your response.

Best regards,

Gary Teng

  • Hi Gary,

Another option to increase the output current is to use external transistors on the output of the op amp to build an external output stage for the op amp. Please see Figure 63 in AN-31 amplifier circuit collection for an example of how to implement external transistor to increase the output current. Is this something that would work for your customer?

Using two op amps to increase the current drive may work for the LM7321 but that doubles the op amps in the system. If the external transistor approach will not work can you please provide a schematic of how they would like to use two op amps and I will see if two LM7321's will work for the customer?

    Thank you,
