OPA172: Unity Gain phase response

Hi Blake,

The easiest way to get the phase response while in unity gain would be to use TINA-TI to simulate the response. But I am curious why you would like the phase of the closed loop circuit?

Sometimes you just want that to pull out the model prop. delay, perhaps when used inside another loop

Here, the 5deg at 1Mhz indicates a (5/360)*(1/1MHz) = 13.9nsec prop delay. 

The other common thing to look at is phase linearity, here is a linear frequency sweep phase only - next you would dump this out to excel and do a line fit - you can already see visually it is a little curved. This was one of the really amazing things with the early current feedback developments, they deliver intrinsically linear phase naturally, important sometimes -
