AMC1100: Recommendation for lower power consumption

Part Number: AMC1100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1336, AMC1303E0510

Hi,

A customer wants to use AMC1100 to measure current and voltage on several 230V~ lines and needs 2.5kV isolation. Because of the multitude of measurment paths current consumption with this device is quite high. Is there an alternative option for doing this with lesse current consumption?

Thank you,

Franz

  • Hi Franz,

By quick calculation is looks like the AMC1100 dissipates about 38.4mW of power. I don't think we have an isolated amplifier that consumes less power.

With 3V supplies the AMC1336 dissipates 30.6mW. This is a +/-1V input isolated modulator.

The lowest power option that I see in my notes is the AMC1303E0510 isolated modulator which consumes 28.7mW.

Keep in mind that since modulators do not have the integrated digital filter that using a SDFM in the uC will be necessary and will consume power as well.
