INA231: Question of Digital Signal Level of INA231 Specification

Hi Sirs,

According to the official specifications, the VIH(max) is 0.3*VDD with I2C and 0.8V with SMBus, while the INA231 defines VIL(max) at 0.4V, which is not in line with SMBus and I2C standards. Would you please advise if the INA231 can compatible with devices with 0.6V~0.7V VOL(max)?

Hi Wayne,

INA231 is designed to operate with fixed input voltage low and high levels.

It requires the controller to be able to drive below 0.4V. Therefore if the controller can only drive to 0.6V~0.7V, then it is not compatible with INA231.

The presence of other slave devices with higher VIL/VOL doesn’t affect INA231.
