OPA2228: Unity gain stable

Part Number: OPA2228
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA2227, , OPA228, OPA227

Hello Amps team,

Is the OPA2228 unity-gain stable?  The datasheet appears to avoid saying it.  It only states for the OPA2227.  Even page 9 shows the frequency response for G=5.

Thanks,

Darren

  • Hi Darren,

In section of 8.2.2.1 of the datasheet, it is stated that OPA228 is intended for an application with Gain >= 5V/V. If you need unity gain op amp, you may have to select OPA227.

OPA228 is uncompensated amplifier and external compensation is required if lower gain (< 5V/V) is needed. In other words, OPA228 will not be unity gain stable.

If you have additional questions, please let us know.

    Best,

    Raymond

  • Thank you Raymond.
