UAF42: DOS based FilterPro

Hi Danilo,

Q: There is a DOS based program called FilterPro. I believe the program helps configure the filter characteristics but then the filter must be characterized by external resistors and capacitors. Is this correct?

The link below is the application note for UAF42, however, DOS or Windows standalone FilterPro software is no longer supported. The similar FilterPro tool has evolved into an online program, see the link below. 

There are multiple methods you can accomplish the experimental filter design and verification. : 

1. You may also use the "FilterPro" online tool to create a desired filter, then use UAF42AP IC in step 2 to verify the filter performance characteristics. 

2. Yes to your question. You may use resistors and capacitors to create/build a desired active filter characteristics using UAF42AP IC via hands on method (like a lab or test or training experiments etc.).

3. You may use TINA-TI simulation tool to build/create a filter first, then verify the filter characteristics in step 2 above.

The customer tried the filter design tool. However, there is no option to design with the UAF42. Is there a way to add UAF42 in the tool?

Hi Danilo,

I can certainly suggest the possibility, but it won't be fast. 

I can send you a UAF42 Simulation in Tina and it should work just as well. Of course, engineer has to learn to run Tina, if he/she is not familiar with it. We also have online training video in Tina, and it will be easier to follow it.

Thank you for your quick response. Although TINA-TI maybe a better simulation tool, it may confuse the customer if we suggest one software after another. Can you please confirm if we choose the filter design tool, when can we provide the solution to his inquiry?

I will ask, but I can't promise the outcome. 

I have a copy of FilterPro V1.3, old version for windows OS. It is no longer supported, however, this may be another options.

We will wait for the instructions/process on how to add UAF42 to filter design tool. Regarding FilterPro V1.3, is UAF42 included in that tool? If yes, can we have a copy since the customer is initially interested with that tool.

The two links are related to the FilterPro tool, I was told that the initial Application Bulletin was created back in 1990, and the second link was the user guide, unfortunately I think that this is an updated copy higher version than Ver 1.3, likely around version 2.0.or higher.
