MC1458: OP AMP Compatibility Questions ..

Part Number: MC1458
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL022

I found both the MC1458 and TL022 in an audio circuit I am repairing (guitar amp) .. the builder used both these chips at the same time .. are they both just general purpose and interchangeable or are there any big differences? the pinouts and voltage supplies seem to be ok .. it runs off a 9v battery

I only ask because the TL022 datasheet seems to be missing a ton of specs unlike the MC1458 version

Thanks

  • Greg,

Both of these op amp have a minimum recommended VCC of 10V, so 9V is a little under that.
The specs are similar and pin out is the same (most packages).
If they are in DIP package in sockets, I suspect you want to swap some around.
This probably be OK, but I can't promise is will be fine. make sure the power is off if you swap some op amps.
