Hi Luiz,

What are you trying to accomplish using the Noise Calculator tool? Do you want to calculate the total noise of an op amp in a circuit? If so, an easier way might be to use TINA-TI. We can help you simulate the noise of the circuit in TINA-TI if you provide us with the op amp being used and the circuit configuration with component values.

I recommend watching our TI Precision Lab Videos on Noise for more information on calculating, simulating, and measuring the noise of an op amp circuit.

Thank you for your support!
I'm using the "Noise Generator.EXE" interface. The application crashes on Windows7 with every configuration change.

In Windows XP it works perfectly.

What will you be using the Noise Generator for? I'm not very familiar with the Noise Generator tool but it appears to plot different types of noise (1/f noise, white noise, shot noise, etc.) for a given amplitude.

Can you use the tool strictly in Windows XP to avoid crashes?

Exactly, you are correct as to the purpose of the Noise Generator.

I can use it in Windows XP without fail.

But in Windows7, the interface crashes soon after the first change.

I'll illustrate:

- I downloaded and unzipped the application on my PC;
- Note the existence of a "LabSound.dll" file together with the application;

In Windows XP, the application runs perfectly.

I can generate any kind of noise and change the settings.

But in Windows7, the application crashes before generating a second change of any parameter.

There may be a need to configure the Windows7 registry for full compatibility of the .VI application, typical of LabView.

Honestly, I'm not sure what might be causing the issue when operating in Windows 7. The program appears to have been developed in 2006 when Windows XP was still in use so its possible that something has changed with the compatibility of the program with a more up to date Windows operating system. Since the Noise Generator works as expected in Windows XP I recommend you use the program exclusively in Windows XP.

I imagine you need to know the LabView program structure to change the Windows7 registry settings.

Yes there is the reason that I have a lab with 16 machines with Windows 7, and I would not like to migrate to the old and discontinued Windows XP.

Thats completely understandable. I'm still not sure what the end goal of using the program is. What are you going to do with program once you generate a noise signal in the program? I am asking this because we might have another solution that will help you solve your issue.

Yes, I checked TINA-TI, it's an update of the old Electronics Workbench program and you can simulate the noise I need.

In the school where we work we have the discipline of Control Systems that presents the different types of noise. The Noise Generator tool would be a simple and quick way to present this content.

The use of TINA-TI is adequate, however, it will be a long-term solution, requiring a long dedication of time to prepare simulations and tests.

Hi Luiz,

Can you try running the program in compatibility mode and select to run it in Windows XP? You can run it in Windows XP by right clicking on the .exe file select Properties and then Run in Compatibility Mode.
