BOOSTXL-3PHGANINV: GAN FET fire characteristics

Part Number: BOOSTXL-3PHGANINV
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG5200

So during the development process I'm used to blowing up FETS, but the difference here is that the board had a sustained fire that had to be put out by a fire extinguisher.  Every other FET failure we've experienced is the usual magic smoke.  Is there something about the nature of the GAN FETs that causes them to burn hotter and brighter than regular FETs?

The issue is if there is a catastrophic failure of this sort in the field and the FET can sustain flames do I risk the entire machine burning down?

Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks,

DougM
