LMV321: Input CM spec

Part Number: LMV321

Hello team,

I'm a bit confused with the input CM spec for LMV321 at 2,7V supply. We show a typical of 1,9V and maximum of 1,7V. Shouldn't the 1,7V be the minimum spec?

Also what happens when the signal input on the non inverting pin exceeds the input CM range in a voltage follower configuration?

many thanks

Lutz

  • Lutz,

Technically minimum would be correct. However, it is common to use a "Recommended Operating Conditions" mentality for this spec. So applications should limit  inputs to 1.7V, although 1.9V typically works (but not always)

If both inputs exceed upper range then input stage will cutoff and output may go low (VOL) or high (VOH) based on sample chanel used (random). In linear circuits, VOL samples will have inverting input running at upper common mode voltage.

Try LMV321A instead that will not have an input stage that cuts off.
