AMC1301: with WHAT INSTRUMENT can I test SNR/THD of AMC1301

Part Number: AMC1301

DEAR TI,

I am a new comer to AMC1301.

Recently,I am testing the SNR and THD of AMC1301,with signal generator and spectrum I got a bad result which is far from the one in the datasheet.

My question is with what kind of testing instrument can I get the desired result?

My testing condition is signal generator inputs signal to VINP,and the output signal from VOUTP to spectrum analyzer.

My THD result is -53.36dBc

  • Hi Tongze,

the output signal of AMC1301 is differential! Because of this you need to measure "VOUTP - VOUTN".

I would add a good differential amplifier to the outputs of AMC1301 and convert the differential output signal into a single-ended signal, as shown in figure 46 of datasheet of AMC1211. Give this single-ended signal to the input of spectrum analyzer.

    Kai

  • Hi Tongze,

As Kai said, you will need to convert the differential signal to a single-ended one. Since you have already made a board for the AMC1301 and may not want to spin another with an additional component, you could buy an EVM with a differential amplifier and connect these two boards.
