AMC3301: AMC3301

Part Number: AMC3301
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1311,

Hi,

We are finalizing the schematics, so wanted confirmation on line to line voltage sensing and phase current sensing using AMC3301 and also for DC voltage sensing using AMC1311. Please find the attached snaps of schematics. Please let me know if anything else is to be added like protection circuit, etc.

  • Hi Smitha,

Great to see your full schematics and the progress this project has made!

    1. Are you planning on having this design tested for EMI? If not, the MCF component can be removed. If yes, then I may have a different recommendation for you depending on what level you are testing to. If yes, please provide how long the input resistor divider structure will be in layout.

    Otherwise things are looking good.

  • Hi,

Can you please review the schematic (if it's ok to go with or anything else is to be added). We have added diodes at input side so please give your views on the same.

  • Hi Smitha,

As I said before, the MCF component can be removed/replaced depending on your EMI testing plans.

It looks to me like these diodes will prevent voltage from swinging below HGND, which means you are losing half of your dynamic input range. Is this intentional?

I also would not connect HGND to VINN through the diode, I would rather see a more direct connection or the center tap connection that we discussed in the previous thread to ensure that the input common-mode range is not violated.
