TLV320AIC3120EVM-U: TLV320AIC3120EVM-U: I2S and I2C

Part Number: TLV320AIC3120EVM-U

Hi,

We wanted to Interface  I2S, I2C, and GPIO1 Between FPGA Board  EVM.

This post: e2e.ti.com/.../tlv320aic3120evm-u-using-tlv320aic3120evm-u-with-an-external-mcu

Suggests that I2S traces must be cut in order to test I2S.

Instead, can we Unplug USB and Provide all powers( 5v, 3.3v, and 1.8v) along with I2S, I2C, and other required lines. Would this work?

Is there any other approach to control I2S via an external Controller, without damaging the board (cutting traces)?

  • Hi,

You can pull this I2S_ENABLE pin high to disable the I2S from the TAS1020 and thus allowing you to connect I2S bus to external host.

Your option is possible but it might need more signals from external to be connected to the codec part.

    Regards.
