TAS2110: random pop noise occur sometimes during music playing

Part Number: TAS2110

Hi,

I have encounter a issue that the speaker have random pop noise occur sometimes during music playing.

I have record the I2S signal input to TAS2110 and confirm it is OK.

I captured the pop waveform on the speaker as below:

green is PVDD, yellow is speaker waveform.

amplifier configure as below:

/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/6/TAS2110_5F00_For_5F00_Go3_5F00_Clip4.h

I'm very confuse that if it trigger the OCP, the output should stop 1.5s and then recover, not just cause a pop noise. can you help to clarify what cause the pop noise. Thank you.

  • Hi Anderson,

Does this happen only when playing higher amplitude sounds?
Could you please share customer schematic and layout so we can review? The PVDD, VBST, GREG and digital GND (pin 28) routing is of high importance for this device, perhaps what customer observes is related to layout.

  • Hi Ivan,

I have share you the schematic and layout via mail. can you help check if there is software solution to fix this issue, because customer project is going to MP soon, they don't really like to change layout.

for your question, it is not certain that only happen when playing higher amplitude, we have captured waveform like below, it doesn't seem very high amplitude.

what clue we know right now.

    1. change boost to always on or use external PVDD, pop happen reduce very obviously.

    2. change the class H software start time, if the time is set to 9us, the pop happen more, if change to the longest time 990us, pop noise improve but still happen.

    3. it is  very easy to happen after mute and then unmute, you can see from above waveform the music stop period is mute and then unmute, used mute and unmute code like below, but of course without mute and unmute also have pop occur, but just less happen.

BTW, can we change to mail loop to follow up this issue,

    thank you.

    Anderson

  • Hi Anderson,

    I'll follow up over email.
