Hello All,
I have used the DIX9211 on two different boards now. It is a great product.
I have another application I am hoping to use it on but need to verify some functionality. Here is the situation. I have 8 channel audio made up on 4 separate AES/EBU digital audio streams (FL/FR, SW/C, RS/LS, and BSR/BSL) that I need to interface to. These outputs will all be coming from the same source.
I am thinking of using four separate DIX9211 transceivers to convert each of the outputs to I2S. If I have the exact same clock source going to each of the XTI inputs will the I2S data at each of the outputs be synchronous with each other due to the DIX9211 PLL? For example will BCK, SCK, and LRCK be synchronous to one of the other DIX9211's SDOUT?
My end goal is I will be interfacing to a TI DSP with a McASP. My hope is to get all 8 channels synchronous to each other before going to the DSP.
If there is an alternate way to do this I am open to suggestions.
Thanks,
Shawn
Hi, Shawn,
I believe it should be ok, but the guy who knows this device best is out on vacation until the middle of the week. I'll ask him to comment on it for you when he gets back.

Shawn,
The driving factor will not be the XTI clock input, but the fact that the AES/EBU inputs will all be coming from the same source. So long as the recovered clock from the AES/EBU inputs is the same, the I2S outputs should all be synchronous to one another.
