hello
I'm designing a board with 5x PCM4222 that will have SPDIF output (using DIT4192 in stereo mode) and ADAT output (using the Coolaudio V1401 8-channels ADAT transmitter).
http://www.coolaudio.com/docs/COOLAUDIO_V1401_DATASHEET.pdf
I'm using as example the PCM4222 Evaluation board, so there will be a selectable clock source feeding one PCM4222 (master) and 4 slave PCM4222. The master PCM4222 will feed L and R channel of a single DIT4291 in stereo mode. The other 8 slave ADC channels will feed the V1401 transmitter.
I will use PCM mode, left justified, and I don't need quad speed PCM mode, only normal/double speed (max 96KHz).
I'm trying to understand how to connect the V1401 to the rest of the system.
From what I understand, the V1401 only takes word clock, and not bit clock, indeed bit clock is interally generated, and it only supports 64Fs bit clock.
The PCM4122 in normal mode would produce 128Fs bit clock, so that won't be good for the V1401. Am I right?
Dimitri,
The V1401 is not a TI device, so I can't really comment on the functionality of that device. The PCM4222 does support a I2S mode which would allow for BCLK = 64xfs for slave mode.
If you are running the PCM4222 as a master, the BLCK is fixed.
