Hello, i need some help to understand the interfacing of PCM3168 codec with FM Tuner with analog audio output.
Below is the basic design block diagram of my system.
Please suggest whether this is the correct way of interfacing or not?
Do i need to add any other processing in between FM Tuner and Audio codec or FM Tuner differential analog output can directly connected to audio codec.?
Hi Malay,
I apologize for the lack of response, the engineer who supports this device is currently on travel.
Hi Malay,
The PCM3168 accepts a differential analog input and also supports TDM output of the ADC data so I see no reason why you would need to interface anything between your FM tuner and the PCM3168.
Are you only using the ADC functionality of this device or do you use the DAC for something as well? If you only need the ADC we do have newer devices you may be interested in. I would suggest looking at TLV320ADC3140.
Best,
Zak
Hi Zak,
Thank you for your response.
Yes you are right, i only need differential analog input with TDM output (No DAC required).
But i need at least 6 differential analog input channel with TDM out, i don't think TLV320ADC3140 support 6 differential analog input.
Let me know if you have any other better option.
Thanks !
Hey Malay,
Ah I see, unfortunately none of our audio ADCs support 6 channels directly, but we do have a PCM186x family of devices that come in 4-channel and 2-channel versions that can share the same TDM bus if this is interesting. Otherwise, the PCM3168 is probably still your best option.
Best,
Zak
Hey Zak,
I think as of now this will work for me. I will test it once i have the hardware with me.
Will come back again if i have any other queries while testing.
Thanks !
