TAS5805MEVM: Not Connecting to PurePath Console

Hello, I have a TAS5805MEVM connected to a 12V power supply and to my PC over USB. PurePath Console showing the board as offline and not showing the connect button. It is almost like the USB is not connected. The 3.3V LED is on, but the USB READY LED is off. I have S1 switched to XMOS, HS-EN, DVDD1 & DVDD2 jumpers are placed, J12-J14 are in BYPASS Position, and SCL and SDA jumpers are not placed. I believe this is the default jumpers configuration which we didn't change. What could cause this issue? Am I missing anything here?

Hi Mustafa,

This sounds like the board might not have been programmed. Can you take a picture of your setup with the EVM powered on? Does the USB READY LED have a very faint blue light when you power on the EVM?

Hello Rob, The USB READY is not on at all. I attached a picture of the setup.

If the board was not programmed, can I program it in-house or do I need to get a new board? Please let me know so I can place an order now since testing is on hold. Thank you.

Hi Mustafa,

From what I'm seeing the board is either not properly programmed or your USB cable doesn't work. I recommend checking your USB cable to verify it's good before ordering a new EVM.

I tried multiple USB cables and I see the same issue. Shouldn't the USB READY led be on regardless of whether a USB cable is connected or not? Can I program the board here? I see a JTAG connection.

Hi Mustafa,

Unfortunately, it requires specific hardware to program the XMOS.

Actually the light shouldn't come on unless you have the USB cable plugged in.

Actually, it turns out to be the USB cable after all. After Robert Clifton56 mentioning that the USB Ready LED will not actually light up unless there is a connection, I tried more USB cables and the fourth one worked. Not sure it was my luck or I just happened to have many micro-usb cables with not data wires.

Congratulate finally get the correct cable. I also see cable just used for charge use, and confused me many times when connected to EVM.
