CDCI6214EVM: Can't follow the quickstart guide for programming the CDCI6214EVM in TICS Pro-SW

Part Number: CDCI6214EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

I am attempting to follow the quick start instructions listed in the user guide for the CDCI6214EVM.  The instructions are broken down into 9 steps, most of them involving the TICS Pro-SW software in some way.  I was able to complete steps 1-5 without problems.  But once I reach step 6, I am unable to locate the "Find Device" button in the TICS Pro-SW GUI that the quick start guide refers to.  This is despite the fact that I was able to find the "Power Off" button in the previous step with no problems.  The problem persist when looking ahead at steps 7 and 8.  Step 7 refers to selecting the "EVM Default" under "Default Configuration", but that option is absent from "Default Configuration".  Step 8 refers to the "Lock?" button, which is also absent from the TICS Pro-SW GUI.

Is anyone familiar with the TICS Pro-SW software or where these functions listed in the quick start guide are located, or know why I can't find them?

Thanks for the help.

  • Hi Nicholas,

For step 6, there isn't a find device button in the current version of the GUI. From the top toolbar, select" USB Communications > Interface" and make sure that the interface selected is USB2ANY. Press "Scan I2C Bus" to find the device and set the I2C address.

For step 7, you can load any of the three default configurations by choosing one from the dropdown. Choose the option "EEPROM, Clock Generator, PCIE 4x OEi".

For step 8, there is no "Lock?" button. In the blue Phase Locked Loop block, you can see a green PLL locked text label or a red PLL unlocked text label. Press Re-CAL to recalibrate the PLL if it is unlocked.

It appears that the GUI has been updated since the release of the quick start guide. I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Lane
