LMK04832: Single-loop mode

Part Number: LMK04832

For the LMK04832 in single loop mode with external vco, would we have access to the prescaler shown in TICS Pro? That is, could we use the prescaler to scale up our external signal for clock distribution?

On a related note, would you expect difficulties getting the PLL to lock without the feedback loop from CPout2?

Also, if used in this way, would the LMK04832 retain its jitter cleaning capabilities?

Thanks.

  • Hello Greg,

Yes when using the CLKin1 for external VCO input you would have access to the prescaler.

The CPout2 would need to be connected to the external VCO tuning port in order to lock.

The jitter cleaning function of PLL1 would not be enabled, but you would get the normal PLL filtering from a single loop which can help with filtering reference noise outside the loop bandwidth.  With PLL1 typical use case would have a very narrow bandwidth to help filter more of the close in jitter from the reference source input.

    Regards,
