BQ32002: ORing at Vcc

Hi all,

I got a question about BQ32002 power supply. Can you tell me if there are no concerns for ORing the power supply at Vcc? Also, if there are no batteries or capacitors on VBACK and the voltage of VCC goes down to switchover voltage, what happens (device shuts down or keep operation from VCC or any concerns of accuracy)?

Hi RYO,

You are using multiple supplies into an OR-gate to power the BQ32002, correct? If so, there may be potential issue if the core or backup supply voltages at the IC pin dips below the recommended operating conditions during VCC switchover; in this case, device would be started and would need to be reinitialized.

Hi Lane,

Thank you for your reply. If there are no batteries connected to VBACK and 2 power supplies are connected to VCC with diode, are there any issues?
