BQ32002: Is the IRQ pin necessary for operation?

Part Number: BQ32002

Hi CTS Apps,

I am curious if the BQ3200x can be used without the IRQ pin functionality. My customer is just looking for a basic RTC and I do not know if the Processor will have enough IOs to accommodate the IRQ. Can we go without it?

If so how should it be terminated?

Thanks,

Mitchell

  • Mitchell,

IRQ is an output, and this function is not required. You can configure the FT and FTF muxes so that the IRQ pin stays at a constant state, see Figure 3 and Table 1 in the datasheet. I recommend configuring IRQ to reflect the state of OUT, setting OUT to 1, and terminating IRQ to VCC through 4.7kΩ.
