CDCE925: part recommendation

Part Number: CDCE925

Hi team,

My customer is searching a clock generator, and I would like come to you check about their requirement:

  • 6 output(frequency:32.768kHz, 19.2MHz, 38.4MHz, 76.8MHz, 24MHz, 26MHz)
  • Load Capacitor: 10pF
  • Total Size: <50mm^2
  • Power: <15mW
  • Phase Noise: <-140dBc/Hz@76.8MHz
  • Aging: <= ±1 ppm/year

Could you help check about if we get the suitable recommendation?

Thanks and Best Regards,

Will

  • Hi Will,
    What's the input frequency here?

    Regards,

    Vicente

  • hi Vincente,

Thanks for your feedback, they did not get a specific requirement of the input frequency, could you recommend one input frequency?

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Will

  • Hello Will,

The CDCE925 only has 5 output clocks; therefore, that part won't work for your application.

To answer your question, the input frequency you choose is application dependent. Whatever is driving your clock generator will determine your input frequency. Also, the input frequency needs to stay within the recommended ratings on the data sheet of the chosen part.

Finally, we are still looking into which devices to suggest, but most of the devices in this link should work for your output frequency setup while they either have a fractional output divider or 2 PLLs. Note that you need two PLLs since you have two frequency profiles (one for the first 4 and another one for the last 2 you mentioned in your original post). Hope this helps!

    Best,

    Andrea

  • Hi Andrea,

    Thanks for your feedback.

Since most of would work in output frequency range aspect, they also get power consumption and size requirement, which one is the most recommendation for this application?

    Thanks and Best regards,

    Will

  • Hi Will,
None of our clocks are suffice due to the very small 32.768 kHz output and the need for more than one frequency domain.

LMK5B122204 is a potential suitor but the power requirement will not be met either.

    Regards,

    Vicente
