CDCDB803: External Terminations

Part Number: CDCDB803

The data sheet uses the phrases "Typically connected directly to PCIe differential clock inputs", and "integrates a large amount of external passive components".

I interpret this to mean this to mean the typical external termination of series 33 ohms and 49.9 ohm pulldown resistors are not required.

Please confirm.

  • Hi Grant,

I assume you are talking about the terminations for the device's LP-HCSL outputs? If that's the case, there are integrated series termination resistors to match either 85-Ohm differential or 100-Ohm differential output lines, which can be selected between using a register setting (OUTSET). The LP-HCSL format does not use pulldown resistors like the basic HCSL format to my knowledge, so as a whole you shouldn't need any external termination components.

    Best,
