LMK62I0-100M: General Question on phase jitter specification

Part Number: LMK62I0-100M

Dear TI Expert,

Forgive me if I am asking a stupid question. Why do we generally use phase jitter in between 12kHz and 20MHz (this specific freq range) as a parameter to evaluate clock's phase noise or jitter performance?

Hope someone can shed some light on it. Thanks.

Yuanchen

  • Hi Yuanchen,

As I understand, the 12 kHz and 20 kHz jitter integration bandwidth is considered a standard in the IC industry because many protocols such as PCIe and SATA use it. So it is common for devices to report their jitter/PN performance in this range to make it easy for customers to evaluate and compare them.

    Best,
