LMX2594PSEVM: No RF signal generated

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2594

Hi Experts,

Customer is using the EVM 'LMX2594PSEVM ' and getting no RF signals from both ports; RFOUT1 and RFOUT2. Below is the additional information provided.

I am using 100 MHz, 8.0 dBm from an external generator to the OSCin port (tested before connected) and 3.6 v Vcc with 0.36 A from the dc power supply (tested on the SMA connector). In TICS Pro, I am using the default configuration for LMX2594.

I followed the Troubleshooting Guide steps and everything seems to be connected and working. However, I still get no RF signals on my signal analyzer and the green lights on the EVM are not on too.

Could you please guide me to find out what to do to operate the EVM? Also, is there any recommended configuration on TICS Pro to evaluate my LMX2594?

Your assessment is much appreciated.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

Did you mean you have tried powerdown the devices and you have noted that there is a significant current change?

  • Hello Noel,

    Customer responded.

From user guide of lmx2594psevm, in page 15 "Troubleshooting Guide" in order to verify communications: Yes, I tried to power down the devices from the 'user controls' tap in TICS Pro and I noticed the significant current drop and when I power it up the current rises back to the previous value (0.36 A).

I wonder if there is a procedure to check if the two lmx2594 chips are operating and not actually damaged, since they both are not providing any RF signals at their output port and everything else was checked alright including the DC voltage (3.6v) and the OSCin (100MHz, 8dBm) to the EVM.

    For your further advice.

    Regards,
    Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

Noel is currently out of the office on travel, I have paged another team member to assist you.

  • Hi Archie,

I would be imagine, if the supply current is limiting when you are programming the devices.

Can you try to increase the supply current and see the performance?

    Thanks!

  • Thank you, Ajeet.

Apology for the late confirmation as customer just had the chance to implement this advice and both chips are working as expected. They increased the current limit, and the RF signals are both locked perfectly.

Thank you very much for this great support.

    Regards,
    Archie A.
