CDCDB803: Can CKPWRGN_PD# be pulled high for non-smb operation

Part Number: CDCDB803

I would like to use the CDCDB803 in an application without a micro-controller.

Will pulling CKPWRGN_PD# high, to VDDR, be sufficient for the part to work?

All OE pins will be tied to ground.

  • Hello,

If you are not using SMBus then there should be no problems with adding a resistor directly tied to VDDR.

If you are using SMBus, then it is recommended to have a delay between VDDR and PWRGD as the SMBus address is sampled by the PWRGD signal. If the supply is not stable when the PWRGD is rising and the SMBus address is coming up at the same time the supply is not stable, the SMBus address might need another PWRGD cycle (0 -> 1) to properaly setup SMBus. Could you raise VDDR and when it reaches 3V, then raise PWRGD? That should not cause this to occur.

    Good luck!
