LMK04828: Multiple Clock Tree Synchronization Issue

Part Number: LMK04828
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2594

Hi expert,

My customer faces the sync issue right now, detail as below.

1. Customer want to use tree configuration for sync multi board like below figure

( Slave boards are made by themselves including LMK04828*1 and LMX2594*2 with Xilinx RFSOC.)

They want to use LMK04828EVM to sync with 2 pcs of RFSOC board made by themselves to verify if the configuration of hardware and setting of registers are okay.

They intend to sync all the 122.88MHz in phase. If 2pcs-sync is done, then 4pcs-sync will much easier for next step.

2. LMK04828 EVB Board :

Same as picture on top, they intend to generate clock:  DCKL0(122.88MHz), SDCLK1(7.68Mhz), DCLK2(122.88Mhz), SDCLK3(7.68Mhz). And EVM is the Master clock board.

3. RFSOC board:

The schematic and clock tree of LMK04828 slave clock board as below:

Test Result

1. Checking the PLL Digital Lock Detect LED, only Master LMK04828 lights on, slaves LMK04828 and LMX2594 light off. Is this condition normal or not?

2. Measuring the output of LMX2594, it was found that the phase was not synchronized, the frequency output was 150MHz (should be 122.88MHz), and the signal power would fluctuate.

Other test result

Remove the LMK04828 EVB board (master), and using TICS Pro to config the LMK04828 and LMX2594 through RFSOC board (Slave) .

It was found that the PLL Digital Lock Detect LEDs go light both, and the frequency output of LMX2594 is normal and phase sync.

(TICS Pro config setting is different with above.)

All the setting on TICS Pro is attached.

Could you help me find the reason of sync issues?
