TPL5000 POR behavior

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPL5000

Re: TPL5000

Is it possible to fully disable the power supervisor feature of this part? The last line of the data sheet states: "Connecting the PGOOD pin to the supply pin of the TPL5000 disables the supervisor feature".

When wired this way, the device still produces a reset at the expiration of the timing period whether DONE is toggled or not. What is the purpose of a POR reset pulse that happens as much as 64s after power is applied?

Thanks

Mike

  • Hello Mike, the TPL5000 is not able to sense the supply voltage and works as a supervisor, it performs this feature when it works with a device, like the one showed in the DS (power management).Whe th epower management IC detect a low voltage level it informs the TPL5000 putting down the PGOOD signal. The TPL5000 then stops counting, and restart counting whne PGOOD is again high. The first action performed by the TPL5000 after a low to high transition of PGOOD or after a power on (with PGOOD high) is sending a reset signal after the prrogrammed delay. So there isn't any chance to not sending the first RESET.
