TLC556: capacitor for CONT pin

Hello,

Our customer have a question for TLC556.

In datasheet page 10., we can see "The 0.1uF capacitor at CONT in Figure 3 decreases the period by about 10%".

Does it mean that it makes the time tPHL and tPLH shorter and total time (tH + tL) also shorter 10% when CONT pin left floating ?

Hiroshi-san,

That statement is not true; if VCC is clean then there is no difference in period with or without cap.

If VCC is not clean, then having a capacitor helps prevent a reduction in period due to a premature comparator trip.
