CDCLVD1216: Power supply for clock buffer

Hi Ti experts,

We have some doubts about power supply for clock buffer cdclvd1216 and cdclvd1208.

As we search from the datasheet, there are no special requirements for power supply, such as PSRR. And only one section describe the power supply filtering, and no other restrictions.

So are there any issues that if we adopt a DC-DC to convert the power supply(P2V5) for such device?

And if a DC-DC circuit is feasible, are there any other additional design for the power supply filtering?

Hello Liren,
the supplies of the mentioned devices are directly connected to the pins of the QFNs. Therefore if you use a DC-DC switcher you have to assume that the spur(s) from the switcher are going to be imposed on the buffered clock signals. You can mitigate the spur as much as possible by designing the supply filter and also use a ferrite bead. Functional-wise the devices are going to be fine, you will only have to consider a potential degradation of the additive jitter through determinstic spurs.
