CDCLVP1204EVM: Using EVM with VCC = 2.5V

Part Number: CDCLVP1204EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCLVP1204

How should the CDCLVP1204 EVM be modified to operate with VCC = 2.5V?  The data sheet for the buffer indicates that VAC_REF should not be used when VCC < 3.0V.  The eval board input circuit is set up to AC couple the input clock and  uses the VAC_REF output to bias the input.  In our case, we would still AC couple the input, but its not clear how to modify the bias circuit for VCC = 2.5V

  • Since VAC_REF cannot be used, an external bias is needed to set the common mode voltage of the AC coupled input. To rework the EVM, you should cut the trace between VAC_REF pin and the center-tap of the termination resistors. You can then use a voltage divider network to bias the center-tap voltage to VCC/2 = 1.25V (e.g. using 1k pullup and 1k pulldown).
