CDCE906-706PERFEVM: Connect to PC with Parallel Port

Part Number: CDCE906-706PERFEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

Request:

The user guide of CDCE906PWR/CDCE706PWR refer:  Connect the parallel port cable to PC and EVM parallel port.

But the demo lacks matching connect cable.  According to the BOMs of EVM user's guide, the parallel port is DB25 port

Used the printer cable for connecting. Connected the USB port to PC and CDCE906PWR/CDCE706PWR EVM parallel port.

But the PC can’t identify the demo.

In addition, the software used in the upper computer is the Labview Software of  8.6 version.

Question:

Why the cable connect UBS to PC and parallel port to demo doesn’t work?

  • Hello,

I am looking into your request, it will require some investigation. I will get back to you early next week.

    Kind regards,
    Lane
  • Hi Lane,

How is  your investigation going? Do  you have some results or advice?

    Best regards,

    Xing

  • Hi Xing,

The internal investigation is still ongoing. I ordered a board and installed the GUI software. The board arrived but the cable was not included in the box. The product folder does not indicate that this device should ship with the parallel port cable, but I am looking into it.

I will try to find a parallel port cable to test the EVM. I will try to get you an update next week.

    Kind regards,
    Lane
  • Hi Xing,

While Lane is waiting for the parallel port cable, you can try the following:

    1. The device is preprogrammed. Can you follow the user guide and see if you get expected outputs?

    2. Can you try programming SMBus through jumper J17 (wire the data and clock line to your own microcontroller)? If you happen to have a USB2ANY, you can use the library provided in the following thread to easily control USB2ANY and write your own script.
