LMX2571: Output jitter conversion to fempto seconds

Part Number: LMX2571
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK61E2, ADS4225

Hi,

I am a bit confused regarding the PLL LMX2571 output jitter.

I have chosen the clock LMK61E2 and considering the PLL LMX2571.

The PLL output will be driven to the ADC ADS4225 which is a 125MS/s.

My goal here is to have the best jitter performance possible so i can not tell whether the output phase noise characteristics of the PLL are good enough.

Also i am not sure if this PLL is the one to use because i am trying to have the option to select a precise frequency to drive the ADC in order to undersample high frequency signals above the first Nyquist zone.

Is this PLL any good for my goal?

Any suggestions regarding the use of another PLL?

Thanks

  • Hi Manos,

If all you need is a 125MHz clock from LMX2571, I am pretty sure that the jitter can meet the ADC requirement.

You can use PLL Sim (free download from ti.com) to estimate the jitter for this device and other TI synthesizers.
