LMH1983: LMH1983: How to implement these CLKout conditions?

Part Number: LMH1983
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK03328, TICSPRO-SW

Hi Teams,

Our customers require…

   Input: 27MHz, H/V/FID
Output 1: 148.35MHz or 148.5MHz(for Camera head transmission)
Output 2: 148.35MHz or 148.5MHz or 54MHz or 297 MHz or 296.7 MHz (refclk for HDMI channels)
Output 3: 148.35MHz or 148.5MHz or 74.25MHz or 74.175MHz or 54MHz or 297 MHz or 296.7 MHz (refclk for HDMI channels)

   HDMI 1:  2160p59.94/50 2160p29.97/25

   HDMI 2:  2160p59.94/50 2160p29.97/25

                  1080p59.94/50 1080psF29.97/25

How can our customers design such systems?

Do you have some ideas to circuit construction of this system with LMH1983 and LMK03328 or other CLK Gen.?

Our customers will need to know whether these CLKouts can be implemented or not.

If possible, would you teach me how to implement theseCLKouts with LMH1983 or other CLK Gen.?

Best Regards,

Maki

  • Hello Maki-san,

I think the customer could probably implement their entire frequency plan just using LMK03328, since they are only using two frequency domains (27MHz, 27MHz * 989/990). We have a tool, TICS Pro (TICSPRO-SW) which can be used to prepare frequency plans and register configurations for LMK03328 and other TI clocking devices. I would recommend experimenting with the configuration wizard in the LMK03328 page of TICS Pro.

    Regards,

  • First, our customers would like to know if LMH1983 support each frequencies as attached CLK tree.

Would you let me know if LMH1983 can support all frequency?

  • Hello Derek,

    Thank you for your reply.

In this case, I should not recommend LMH1983?

and I had better recommend our customers should use LMk03328 instead?

According to Datasheet of LMK03328, it has 8 outputs.

Would you let me know if LMK03328 can implement each frequency?

or I have to try TICS Pro?

    Best Regards,

    Maki

  • Hi Maki-san,

LMK03328 can implement any of the output frequencies requested above. One PLL could be operated with a VCO frequency of 5346MHz, and the other PLL could be operated with a VCO frequency of 5340.6MHz. This should satisfy every clock output requirement. Any of the outputs can be used with either PLL, though there is a preference for keeping each PLL on its own side of the device. This preference, and a relative score for crosstalk, is captured in TICS Pro.

    LMH1983 cannot generate 297MHz, 296.7MHz, or 54MHz.

    Regards,
