LMK04906: Default settings for OSCout0

Part Number: LMK04906

Hi team,

Could you give me comment on following customer question?

Q1. As shown in the datasheet table 17, OSCout0 is enabled as EN_OSCout0 = 1, so if the user doesn't change the default setting, VCXO clock will be outputted through OSCout0?

Q2. Does LMK04906 provide any function to disable OSCout0 other than changing the EN_OSCout0 register?

Best regards,

Takeshi Sasaki

  • Hello Takeshi,

    1. Table 17 does show that EN_OSCout0 will by default by set to 1, enabling OSCout0 output buffer. The OSCout0_TYPE bit is also set 1 by default enabling LVDS clock output. Yes, if the user does not change the default setting VCXO will be routed through OSCout0. Please note CLKout3 and OSCout0 oscillate at start-up at the frequency of the VCXO attached to OSCin port - per Note 14 of 6.5: Electrical Characteristics found on page 9 of the datasheet.

    2. There are a couple ways to disable OSCout0, the most straightforward way is as stated previously, changing the EN_OSCout0 bit from '1' to '0'. Another way would be by changing the OSCout0_TYPE bits from LVDS '0x1' by default to '0x0', please note this is a 4-bit long field found in register 10 [24:27]. Disabling the OSCout0 output is only done through the Enable bit or the OSCout0_TYPE bits while CLKout0 will be disabled through CLKoutx_TYPE and CLKoutx_PD bits.
