Hi there,
We are a medical company, and all our products use the ADS131M04 analog to digital converter. The designs were done several years ago and since that time the company went through some mayor restructurings and layoffs. Long story short, I am the new electronics person looking after all these products.
Now we are in the process to update some of the products and therefore we need to understand more details of the ADS131M04. I found in the lab the ADS131M04EVM, purchased around the 08/2016 and would like to bring that board into operation. Unfortunately, I was not able to do so as I couldn't get the respective user manual. Our evaluation is one single PCB and not the 2-module solution which I found.
I downloaded the GUI software, but it seems that I can't communicate with the evaluation module.
My intention is to verify first all jumpers and settings of the evaluation module to make sure the GUI software has a chance to communicate.
It seems our evaluation board is the first generation and therefore I am wondering if the GUI software will work.
Kindest regards,
Andreas
Hi Andreas Groell,
Can you first please confirm that you are talking about the ADS131A04EVM, not the ADS131M04EVM? The ADS131M04 was not released in 2016 and also was never on a single-board development platform

Hi Bryan,
Thanks for your message. My bad... it's the ADS131A04EVM I would need information about.
It is definitely a single PCB board. The left side comprises of the Analog part, the right side takes care of the communication and between there is space / through-holes solder pads for a J3 connector.
Hope that helps.
Andreas
If possible, I could insert a picture of it.
Hi Andreas Groell,
Thanks for confirming
This is the older version of the EVM, so I would encourage you to get the newer version. Our ability to provide support on the older version of the board will be limited. If that is not possible, here are the relevant documents for the older version of the board

Hi Bryan,
Thank you so much for your support. I will try it out when I got some time and come back to you with my findings.
Cheers,
Andreas
Hi Bryan,
Thanks again for your support and patience. The board is working and everything is OK.
I talked to the software guys that will most likely take over and they possibly will get a newer version when needed.
The GUI of that old board is quite clunky, no offense. :)
Kindest regards,
Andreas
Hi Andreas Groell,
Yes, that is part of the reason we updated the EVM!
Glad we could help
