DAC39J82EVM: Interfacing with ZCU102

Part Number: DAC39J82EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC39J82

Greetings,

We got a DAC39J82EVM evaluation board, and are trying to use it for arbitrary pulse generation using the ZCU102 xilinx board. I've noticed in other forum questions that Xilinx's board do not have the F10/F11 pins routed to the FPGA, and so the Sync signal has to be routed through another GPIO port. From checking the DAC39J82EVM schematic, I don't see how the sync signal can be connected to the J21 port of the board (also recommended in those forum questions). How can I connect the sync signal between these two boards?

Thanks,

Matías.

  • Hey Matías,

We typically use the CMOS SYNC pins. On the DAC39J82EVM the CMOS SYNC outputs from the DAC go jumper J21.

Note that on the DAC symbol they are listed as NC pins. This EVM used an outdated symbol for the DAC.  If you look at the datasheet for the DAC39J82 you'll see that L6 and L7 are SYNC_N_AB and SYNC_N_CD respectively.

You can take pins 1 and pin 3 from jumper J21 and connect either one of them (or both) to either pin 6 or 8 on J3 of the ZCU102 board.

    Hope this helps!

    Matt
