LMH0303: LMH0303 : fault signal

Part Number: LMH0303

Dears.

I have three questions.

Question 1
Will the LMH0303 FAULT signal (PIN 13) can be LOW if the SDI signal (PIN1 PIN2) can not be received?

Question 2
My system is looking at the FAULT signal (PIN 13) of LMH0303.
If the FAULT signal is LOW, the source device does not output to the LMH0303 SDI signal (PIN1 PIN2).
Is this control correct?

Question 3
Despite the state of the FALUT signal, do source devices output SDI signals to LMH0303?

Sincerely,

  • Greetings,

1). Fault signal is not directly related to Pin1 and Pin2 of SDI 100-ohm input or signal. Fault low indicates there is no near end termination on 75-ohm output. But to recognize this condition, there should be signal on Pin1 & 2 so device would transmit this signal and then detect fault condition - if there is no near end termination.

2). Please note fault signal is generated because of 75-ohm signal reflections. 75-ohm signal reflection occurs if there is there is signal on pins 1 & 2 AND there is no 75-ohm termination.

3). To check if there is a 75-ohm termination, source device should periodically output SDI signals and monitor state of Fault signal. SDI signals to the LMH0303 is needed so device can correctly determine Fault signal correct settings.
