TPS65987D: TUSB1042I CTL0 Toggle

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB1042I, , TPS25750

The TUSB1042I requests a toggle on the CTL0 line after power up if the USB is not active. Can the TPS65987D and any of our external MUX control devices perform this function?

Thanks,
Matt

  • Hi Matt,

Would you be able to highlight where this request is mentioned in the TUSB1042I datasheet? The TPS65987D has GPIO's that can be configured to different events, and depending on the request, the TPS65987D may be able to support it or not

  • Hi Adam,

    It's in Section 8.4.1.

The USB PD controller upon detecting no device attached to Type-C port or USB3.1 operation not required by attached device must take TUSB1042I out of USB3.1 mode by transitioning the CTL0 pin from L to H and back to L.

Also do we have a PD controller with less functionality than the TPS65987D that would require less software? They only need 5V/15W

  • Hi Matt,

Thanks for the information. So unfortunately, none of our devices, including the TPS65987D, are capable of meeting this toggle requirement outlined by the TUSB1042I

As far as more simple PD controllers, we have the TPS25750 which may meet your requirements
