TLK10031: Does this part support 10GBASE-ER?

Part Number: TLK10031

Hi,

My customer is interesting to TLK10031. The datasheet says this device support 10GBASE-KX. My customer want to know if it support 10GBASE-ER application?

Thank you!

John

  • Hi,

Yes, the TLK10031 supports 10G SFI interfaces to all SFP+ limiting variants including ER. The host simply needs to use KR settings except disable both auto-negotiation and link training.

  • Thank you for reply.

The datasheet says operation mode can be selected through pin (MODE_SEL/ST) or register 1E.0001 bit10, while I cannot find detailed description about Reg 1E.0001. And also datasheet does not explain how to select operation mode through MODE_SEL and ST pin.

Could you please let me know how should I configure the part to operate in SFP+ mode through pin and regester?

    Regards,

    John

  • Hi,

The datasheet does capture the details you are requesting.

    • Reg 1E.0001 description

    • MOD_SEL functional table

The TLK are registers are set up for KR mode by default. For SFP+ interface cases the user should disable AN and link training via MDIO registers. See below.

    Thanks,
