Can I use the TPD1E05U06-Q1 for ESD protection for the PS/2 Data, clock and +5V outputs ?

Yes. TPD1E05U06-Q1 will provide excellent protection for that application.

Dear Mat,

For the +5V supply I will be using also a Current Limited Switch or Resettable Fuse etc. in series. Where should the TPD1E05U06-Q1 be placed between the switch\fuse and the output pin OR before the switch\fuse (i.e. TPD1E05U06-Q1 then Fuse then +5V output pin) ?

Hi Shmuel,

The general rule of thumb is to place the ESD diode as close to the ESD source (i.e. the PS2 connector) as possible to minimize inductance. Ideally, it should be 1.) connector, 2.) TPD1E05U06-Q1, 3.) switch/fuse, 4.) all other downstream circuitry.
